Wendy Everett's professional career began 35 years ago when at the age of 16 she was chosen to be in a special exhibit at the Smithsonian and her artwork was promptly purchased by a Congressman's wife. In 1996 the Smithsonian, in conjunction with Discover Card, once again honored Wendy by hiring her to be their national TV spokesperson to help celebrate their 150th anniversary. Wendy traveled to 10 major cities across the United States teaching Americans via television how to express their own creativity.
Wendy received her B.A. in Fine Arts at Michigan State University where she was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa key. She then earned her Masters Degree at Fairfield University in Connecticut and continued her studies at the Scuolo Lorenzo di Medici in Florence, Italy, where her classroom was one of Michelangelo's original studios. Wendy is a member of the prestigious National Arts Club in New York City and exhibits her work there.
In 2002 Wendy was one of 25 artists chosen in a worldwide competition to create a life-size polo player to auction at the Polo Expo in Las Vegas to raise money to bring polo back to the Olympics. Since polo is the "game of kings" Wendy made her statue in the likeness of King Tut with qhotes from royalty written in gold leaf hieroglyphics all over his body.
Polo has provided Wendy with the perfect subject matter for her art. She says, "My paintings, are about beauty and power. I love the lines of the ponies' legs and the players' mallets. They go for broke on the field and so do I on my canvases with my bright colors, splashes of gold and intense compositions.
Wendy's artwork has appeared in "Equine Image", "Polo Players Edition" and "Greenwich Polo Magazine", which used one of her paintings for the 1998 cover. Several of her paintings are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Polo, including her 12 foot by 5 foot "Polo Triptych".
Besides her painting career, Wendy has made major accomplishments in the world of design. She has worked with Mattel to create fashions for the Barbie Doll and with Steven Spielberg to create E.T. products, all of which have been marketed internationally. Wendy is also a published author of the two books on creativity.
